Ghana launches first phase of Work Abroad Programme for skilled workers

Ghana has officially launched the first phase of its Work Abroad Programme aimed at facilitating overseas employment for skilled workers. This initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, seeks to connect Ghanaian professionals with international job opportunities, especially in sectors experiencing labor shortages. The programme is designed to enhance the skills of participants while also addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment in the country.

During the launch event, officials emphasized that this initiative will not only empower skilled workers but also contribute to national development by promoting remittances and knowledge transfer. The government is committed to ensuring that Ghanaians seeking work abroad are well-prepared and informed about their rights in foreign employment markets.

The first phase involves collaboration with countries that have expressed interest in hiring Ghanaian talents, paving the way for a structured approach to overseas employment. As part of this effort, training sessions and workshops will be organized to equip potential applicants with essential skills and information needed for a successful transition into international job markets.
