Ghana launches first phase of Work Abroad Programme for skilled workers

Ghana has officially initiated the first phase of its Work Abroad Programme, aimed at facilitating international employment opportunities for skilled workers. Launched by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, this initiative seeks to address the challenges of youth unemployment while also harnessing the potential of Ghana's workforce on a global scale. The programme is designed to connect qualified Ghanaians with job openings in various fields overseas, thereby enhancing their skills and contributing to national development through remittances.

During the launch event, officials highlighted that the scheme will prioritize sectors such as healthcare, engineering, and information technology, aligning with global demand for skilled professionals. Participants will receive training and support to prepare them for international job markets. The government emphasizes that this initiative not only aims to alleviate local unemployment but also positions Ghanaian workers as competitive candidates abroad. As the programme unfolds, it stands poised to empower young Ghanaians while fostering economic growth through increased foreign exchange earnings from remittances sent back home.
