Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is concerned about the arrest of Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia expressed his worries about Wontumi's detention. He highlighted that the charges are vague and his whereabouts are unknown.
Dr. Bawumia noted that there is growing unease within the party and civil society. He emphasized that justice and constitutional rights should apply to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.
He stated, “In a democratic environment as ours, no individual is above the law.” He added that no Ghanaian should be denied their constitutional rights.
Dr. Bawumia has been in contact with Wontumi’s legal team to ensure due process is followed. He praised the legal team for their professionalism in protecting Wontumi's rights.
He called for accountability from EOCO and other state bodies. Dr. Bawumia urged them to act lawfully and transparently regarding Wontumi's case.
He concluded by stating that Ghana must remain a nation governed by law, not arbitrary power. Strong institutions make our Republic fairer and stronger.
