Ghana needs your watchful eyes – Mahama to GBA

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) to stay vigilant. He wants them to scrutinize government policies and ensure accountability for national progress.

During a visit from GBA leader Efua Ghartey on March 26, Mahama praised the association. He acknowledged their commitment to upholding the rule of law and defending constitutional freedoms.

“You have been a strong advocate for human rights and freedoms,” he said. “Your role is important for our society to progress.”

Mahama emphasized that civil society and legal professionals must speak up when governance falters. He stated, “They must have the freedom to point out when things are not right.”

He used a local saying to illustrate his point: “If someone is charting a path, they may not see it is crooked.”

He added that only onlookers can identify these issues. “We appreciate your feedback,” he said. “That is how government should be.”
