Ghana’s economy was ‘criminally mishandled’ under Akufo-Addo – Mahama

President John Mahama has sharply criticized the previous Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, accusing it of gross economic mismanagement.

Speaking at the National Tripartite Committee meeting at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Mahama described Ghana’s current economic state as a “crime scene,” citing shocking revelations about past financial mismanagement.

His remarks came as the government announced a 10% increase in base pay for public sector workers, effective March 2025—marking the second wage adjustment in under a year, following a 23% rise in 2024.

Labour Minister Rashid Pelpuo confirmed that negotiations on the 2025 minimum wage began on February 4, with discussions expected to shape wages across various sectors, particularly for low-income earners.
