President John Dramani Mahama has launched the One Million Coders Programme. This initiative aims to equip one million Ghanaians with technology skills over the next four years.
The programme was unveiled on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. It is part of the government’s Reset Ghana agenda. The training will cover coding, cybersecurity, data analytics, and other essential digital skills.
“This is not just a fulfilled campaign promise,” President Mahama said. “It is a move towards building a knowledge-based economy.” He emphasized that this will help people create solutions and find jobs globally.
He highlighted the need for Ghana to produce its own technologies. “We are changing our story from users of imported technology to creators,” he added.
The One Million Coders Programme aims to create opportunities for young people and professionals. It will help public servants acquire digital skills too. These skills can enhance productivity and fuel entrepreneurship in Ghana's digital economy.
