Ghana will host the 2025 ADEA Triennale on Education and Training. This event is one of Africa’s key platforms for education policy.
The Triennale will take place from October 29 to 31, 2025, in Accra. It is organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). The Government of Ghana, through its Ministry of Education, is collaborating on this event.
The theme is “Strengthening the resilience of Africa’s educational systems.” It aims to end learning poverty by 2035. The goal is to create a well-educated and skilled workforce for Africa and beyond.
Over 1,000 participants are expected to attend. This includes 500 people in person in Accra and another 500 online. Attendees will include Ministers of Education, government officials, education experts, private sector leaders, and development partners.
Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu welcomed the announcement. He called Ghana's selection a vote of confidence in its education leadership.
“Ghana is honoured to host ADEA’s Triennale,” he said. He emphasized Ghana's commitment to ending learning poverty by 2035. He also noted that hosting this event highlights Ghana’s education reforms.
ADEA Executive Secretary Albert Nsengiyumva praised Ghana's dedication to educational transformation. He mentioned challenges like learning poverty and declining education financing.
He stressed the need for system resilience and peer learning among countries. The Triennale will review progress since the last edition in Mauritius in 2022. It aligns with the African Union’s Decade of Accelerated Education (2025–2034).
Discussions at the event will cover seven key sub-themes:
- Reimagining education financing
- Improving foundational learning
- Advancing technical and higher education
- Strengthening teacher development
- Leveraging technology and data to improve outcomes
Ghana's role as host reflects its growing leadership in shaping future education across Africa.
