Ghana to host launch of ECOWAS 50th anniversary celebration

Ghana will host the official launch of ECOWAS's 50th anniversary celebrations. This event marks an important milestone for regional integration and cooperation.

The grand launch is set for April 22, 2025. It will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre. President John Dramani Mahama will officially start the Golden Jubilee activities.

At a press briefing, Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa shared details about the event. The launch will unveil the official ECOWAS 50th anniversary logo. It will also declare the theme for the year-long celebration.

Ghana will host an extraordinary meeting of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers on April 22-23, 2025. This meeting will gather foreign ministers and key stakeholders from across the region. They will discuss critical issues concerning the future of ECOWAS.

Mr. Ablakwa emphasized Ghana’s commitment to regional unity. He noted that hosting this launch recognizes Ghana's long-standing contributions to ECOWAS.
