Mrs. Phebemary Makafui Adodo-Samani is the Civic Education Officer at the NCCE. She has proposed that April be recognized as Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
She believes this will educate the public, especially children, about sexual violence. It will also promote a culture of consent.
“Ghana should adopt April as Sexual Violence Awareness Month,” she said. “This would raise awareness about sexual violence and abuse.”
She compared it to October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which has been effective.
Mrs. Adodo-Samani made her proposal at a seminar in Accra last Friday. The event was organized by Accra Technical University and “I Believe Global” for International Women’s Day.
