Ghana won’t be a transit or final destination for drugs or drug trafficking—Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has promised to fight drug trafficking. He will not allow Ghana to be a transit or final destination for drugs.

This statement follows concerns from the minority in Parliament. They claimed that Ghana is becoming a safe haven for drug trafficking and money laundering.

In a social media post, the president responded to these allegations. He directed the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to work with Parliament's minority.

The president mentioned specific claims made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. These involved suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport linked to drug activities.

Mahama emphasized that the government takes all allegations seriously. He ordered relevant agencies, including NACOC and the Police CID, to investigate thoroughly.

He urged them to collaborate with the member of Parliament for more information. The goal is to expose any drug dealing in Ghana.

The president reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking. Recently, the NIB seized drugs worth $350 million in a high-profile bust.
