#GhanaPolls2024: Bawumia has called to congratulate me – Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has confirmed receiving a congratulatory call from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, after provisional results indicated Mahama’s emphatic victory in the 2024 elections.

Mahama shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude to Bawumia for acknowledging the results and thanking Ghanaians for their trust.

"I have, this morning, received a congratulatory call from my brother Dr. @MBawumia, following my emphatic victory," he wrote.

Provisional figures show Mahama leading decisively, with many NDC parliamentary candidates also securing wins. The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to officially confirm the results soon.

Mahama’s anticipated return to the presidency marks a historic political shift, as he promises economic recovery, transparency, and governance reforms. Both leaders have called for calm while awaiting the EC’s formal declaration.
