The Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has made an announcement.
Jamaica will soon receive nurses and teachers from Ghana. This is part of a new agreement between the two countries.
The initiative aims to fill workforce gaps in Jamaica’s education and healthcare sectors. It also seeks to strengthen ties between Ghana and Jamaica.
Officials finalized the agreement during a meeting at the OACPS Summit in Brussels. The talks were led by Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister and Jamaica’s Senator Kamina Johnson Smith.
In addition to the labor exchange, both countries will start high-level political consultations. They aim to boost cooperation in trade, agribusiness, tourism, education, culture, and sports.
Both governments view this initiative as a step toward enhancing their historical relationship.
