Ghanaians did not vote NPP out for NDC to come in and start misbehaving – Salam Mustapha

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), criticized the NDC-led government. He condemned their recent actions against NPP members.

Mustapha stated that Ghanaians did not vote out the NPP for this behavior. He noted growing public dissatisfaction with the Mahama government’s actions.

He expressed concern for all Ghanaians and the media. “Today, they are targeting NPP people,” he said. “Tomorrow, it could be journalists.”

His comments followed Alfred Ababbio Kumi's arrest by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). Kumi had petitioned President Mahama to dissolve a committee investigating the Chief Justice.

Kumi was charged with publishing fake news but has since been released. His release came after discussions between security officials and Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Additionally, there was an attempted arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi. The NIB and Ghana Police tried to arrest him at his home on May 23, 2025.

Reports indicate that NPP supporters gathered at Wontumi’s residence. The NIB withdrew its officers after being ordered to leave. The reason for their presence remains unclear.
