Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has expressed concerns over Ghana’s readiness to tackle corruption, citing public resistance and contradictions in attitudes toward anti-corruption efforts.
Speaking at the Constitution Day Public Lecture on the theme “A Few Good Men: Suppressing and Repressing Corruption and State Capture in Aid of Development,” he noted that while many acknowledge the need to combat corruption, some actively undermine the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Agyebeng criticized attempts to discredit the OSP and obstruct its work, often by individuals under investigation or their associates.
He described the situation as a “curious cycle,” where the public protests both when the OSP takes action and when it is perceived as inactive, highlighting the nation's conflicting stance on corruption enforcement.
