Ghanaians Can Travel to Morocco Visa-Free: New Policy Announced
Ghanaians can now travel to Morocco without a traditional visa. This new arrangement was announced by Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The change aims to strengthen ties between African countries. Ghanaians will only need online authorization for travel. Approval will be granted within 24 hours.
Ablakwa shared this news after a two-day visit to Morocco. He stated that the new policy simplifies travel for Ghanaians. Instead of visiting the Moroccan embassy, they can apply online.
This announcement follows a meeting with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. The agreement is part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation in Africa.
Ablakwa also mentioned increasing direct flights between Ghana and Morocco. He emphasized that borders should connect people, not divide them.
Currently, Ghanaian passport holders can travel visa-free to over 40 countries. Some of these include:
- Bahamas – 90 days
- Barbados – 180 days
- Cote d'Ivoire – 90 days
- Mauritius – 90 days
- South Africa – 90 days
Additionally, Ghanaians can obtain eVisas for over 30 countries online. This eliminates the need for physical visits to embassies.
Countries offering eVisas include:
- Australia
- Colombia
- Qatar
- South Korea
- Vietnam
In December 2024, Ghana introduced a visa-on-arrival policy to boost tourism. This initiative allowed travelers to enter without pre-approved visas during the festive season.
However, this policy ended on January 15, 2025. All travelers now require a visa before entering Ghana again.
