Ghanaians stuck with Mahama despite our propaganda against him— Maurice Ampaw

Maurice Ampaw, a private lawyer and NPP member, shared insights on Mahama. He stated that the NPP's biggest concern was not Mahama’s achievements. Instead, it was his ability to connect with people.

Ampaw spoke on Wontumi Radio about Mahama's unique appeal. “He speaks the people’s language,” he said. He connects well with market women and youth. Even after years out of power, Mahama's brand remains strong.

This brand strength worried the NPP leadership. Ampaw admitted they had to change their strategy. They couldn’t compete solely on ideas or relatability.

To counter Mahama, they resorted to character attacks and propaganda. In the months before the 2024 elections, this campaign intensified. They revisited old scandals and exaggerated past mistakes.

Mahama’s personal life also became a target for criticism. However, politics can be unpredictable.

Despite these attacks, Mahama’s popularity grew stronger. The more he was criticized, the more voters sympathized with him.
