The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a travel advisory informing Ghanaians about Russia’s ongoing biometric data collection experiment at entry and exit points.

The exercise, which began on December 1, 2024, and runs until June 30, 2026, targets foreign nationals and stateless persons entering Russia.

The first phase is currently being conducted at key locations, including Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo airports, as well as the Mashtakovo road checkpoint in the Orenburg region.

A nationwide rollout is expected from June 30, 2025.

According to the Ministry, diplomatic staff, international organization employees, holders of diplomatic and service passports, and children under six are exempt from the biometric process.

Ghanaians traveling to Russia are advised to take note of this development for their future travels.
