Gideon Boako calls for probe into Yamfo shooting, death of health worker

Dr. Gideon Boako, the MP for Tano North, has called for an investigation. This follows the fatal shooting of a young health worker in Yamfo. The incident occurred last Friday during a violent clash between local youth and police. Tragically, Mr. Richard Agyei Antwi lost his life.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 8, Dr. Boako expressed deep sorrow over this "tragic incident." He noted that it disturbed the peace in the usually calm community. The unrest led to vandalism at the Yamfo Police Station. As a result, military forces were deployed from Sunyani to restore order.

Dr. Boako highlighted that this situation caused loss of life and property. It also threatens the harmony that Yamfo has enjoyed for years. He mentioned that another resident was injured by a military officer's gunfire. This person is currently receiving treatment at Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

The MP urged residents to stay calm and avoid retaliation. He appealed to everyone to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions further. Dr. Boako called for justice and accountability in this matter. He asked the Municipal Security Council and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

"I call upon security agencies to ensure justice is served," he emphasized. He also extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished for a swift recovery for the injured individual.
