Give peace a chance – Mpraeso MP to Bawku youth

Davis Ansah Opoku, the MP for Mpraeso, has urged Bawku's youth to prioritize peace. This call comes amid renewed violence in the area.

On April 11, during an interview on Metro TV, he expressed concern about ongoing conflicts. He noted that these issues hinder development and future opportunities for young people.

Mr. Opoku stated that unrest costs lives and damages property. It also negatively impacts education and infrastructure in Bawku.

He emphasized that peace is essential for progress, especially for youth aiming for a better future.

Using education as an example, he highlighted the inequality caused by conflict. Youth in Bawku face challenges compared to those in more peaceful regions.

“The kids in Bawku will sit for the same BECE as kids in Accra,” he said. He stressed that they also want to attend the same universities.

Mr. Opoku concluded with a plea: “I urge the young people of Bawku to give peace a chance.”

He reiterated that only through peace can Bawku achieve development and inclusion. He called on traditional leaders and community elders to help end the cycle of violence.
