Give them some respect – Miracles Aboagye rebukes NDC over attacks on GBA

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Dr. Bawumia 2024 campaign, criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He called their attacks on the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) disrespectful.

Aboagye spoke on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily. He disagreed with the NDC's tone regarding the GBA's stance on national issues. This includes the GBA's call to reverse Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo's suspension.

He questioned why the NDC, funded by taxpayers, would speak arrogantly to the GBA. “What is their crime?” he asked.

Aboagye emphasized that the GBA has a right to express opinions. It is wrong for the NDC to react negatively just because they disagree.

He noted that in Ghana, "the law is in the bosom of the judge." Disagreements are acceptable until a judge rules on an issue. He wondered why the NDC insults them for sharing their views.

Aboagye accused the NDC of historically disdaining the judiciary. He warned that this attitude could harm public respect for national institutions.

“The NDC has a certain hatred for the judiciary,” he stated. He believes their current approach is misguided but ultimately up to them.

He urged respect for GBA leadership, saying they were elected by lawyers. “Give them some respect,” he insisted.

He cautioned against undermining an association simply because it disagrees with political interests.
