Give us ¢50m to release Wontumi – NPP’s Paul Nyandoh begs Mahama and Ibrahim Mahama

Paul Kwabena Nyandoh is the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP. He has asked President John Mahama and his brother Ibrahim for help. They are needed to bail out Chairman Wontumi.

Nyandoh claims only the Mahamas can provide a property worth GH¢50 million. He believes that even all minority MPs together could not raise this amount.

On May 29, 2025, Nyandoh spoke to Oyerapa News at EOCO. Minority MPs and NPP supporters were protesting there. He said that Wontumi is sick and needs to be released for treatment.

Nyandoh emphasized that GH¢50 million is a huge sum. He questioned if they could raise that money by selling themselves or Wontumi's family. He appealed directly to John and Ibrahim Mahama for assistance.

Meanwhile, Andy Appiah-Kubi represents Chairman Wontumi legally. He stated that Wontumi could meet the bail condition if allowed by law. However, he noted that a third party must prove ownership of the property valued at GH¢50 million.

Additionally, Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai revealed that Wontumi is under investigation. The charges include fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.
