Global Media Alliance promotes wellness on World Health Day

To celebrate World Health Day, Global Media Alliance (GMA) organized a healthy lifestyle workshop for its employees.

The event took place at the company’s office in Accra. This initiative aligns with GMA’s commitment to promoting wellness among staff.

The workshop is the first in a series of sessions within GMA's structured wellness program. It marks an exciting new chapter in the company's focus on employee wellbeing.

Wellness expert Madam Eunice Osei-Tutu from 3 Cubed Wellness led the session. She provided practical tips for adopting and maintaining healthier lifestyles.

Her presentation covered key wellness pillars: clean eating, hydration, connecting with nature, and daily habits.

Madam Eunice emphasized the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition. Regular exercise boosts energy, enhances focus, reduces stress, and supports heart health.

A balanced diet fuels the body and strengthens immunity. It also helps prevent chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

She noted that healthy habits improve personal health and build resilience at work. These qualities are essential for productivity in both life and the workplace.

During her talk, Madam Osei-Tutu discussed diet's impact on insulin sensitivity. Insulin resistance happens when cells stop responding effectively to insulin.

This can lead to higher blood sugar levels over time. Increased levels raise the risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

Madam Osei-Tutu introduced "earthing," which involves walking barefoot on soil to absorb natural energy. She also highlighted the health benefits of sunlight exposure.

“Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated,” she said. Small choices like drinking water or eating nourishing foods can make a big difference.

Emma Wenani, Chief Director of GMA, expressed excitement about this initiative. She emphasized that GMA values employee health highly.

“At GMA, we aim to create a workplace that supports professional growth as well as physical and mental wellness,” she stated.

"This workshop encourages our team to adopt healthier habits,” she added.

The session sparked reflection among staff members. Many felt renewed motivation to make better lifestyle choices after this refreshing break from routine.

World Health Day is observed annually on April 7 as a global call to prioritize health and well-being.
