Godfred Dame raises objection against Ag. CJ  in case involving Chief Justice Torkornoo

A legal challenge has arisen in the case of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo. Former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame objects to Acting Chief Justice Justice Baffoe-Bonnie overseeing the matter.

Dame argues that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie could be directly affected by the outcome. He believes this creates a conflict of interest for the presiding judge.

In response, Deputy Attorney-General Srem-Sai dismissed the objection. He claimed there is no basis for believing Justice Baffoe-Bonnie would gain personally from the case.

Srem-Sai stated, “There is a misconception of personal benefit.” He insisted that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s role remains unaffected by any potential gains.

The legal panel has decided to pause temporarily to discuss the objection privately. They will determine if Justice Baffoe-Bonnie can continue as presiding judge.

This case has drawn significant public interest and scrutiny. The judiciary aims to maintain procedural fairness and institutional integrity throughout the proceedings.
