Godfred Dame Defends Chief Justice Torkornoo Against Impeachment

Former Attorney-General Godfred Dame has spoken out. He is representing Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo in her impeachment fight. This is his first public comment on the matter.

Dame told Joy News that concerns about conflict of interest are unfounded. The Chief Justice has sued to stop a committee investigating her removal.

He stated he wants to challenge how the removal process is being handled. “Good men must speak for what is right,” he said.

Dame emphasized his commitment to defending the judiciary since his appointment. He believes it is important to correct misleading narratives in the public.

Chief Justice Torkornoo was appointed while Dame served as Attorney-General. In her lawsuit, she asks the Supreme Court to stop two judges from participating in her case. She fears they may be biased against her.
