Edudzi Tamekloe is the Director of Legal Services for the National Democratic Congress. He stated that Godfred Dame was untouchable from 2021 to 2024.
Tamekloe noted that the Bar Council could not make decisions about him. His comments follow a complaint against Dame for unprofessional conduct.
A private citizen, Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah, filed this complaint with the General Legal Council. The complaint relates to Godfred Dame's actions in the Republic v. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson & Anor case.
Ofosu-Appiah claims that Dame violated legal principles by trying to coerce Richard Jakpa, a suspect in the case, into giving false evidence.
On TV3’s KeyPoints on May 24, Tamekloe said, “Godfred Dame was untouchable between 2021 and 2024.” He emphasized that during this time, many felt he should apologize for his actions.
At a recent Bar meeting, members were divided over whether Dame should speak at a conference in Kumasi. Some argued he needed to apologize due to public ridicule caused by his actions related to Jakpa.
Tamekloe mentioned that some Bar Council members opposed allowing him to speak at the conference because of this issue. He reiterated that during this period, Godfred was indeed untouchable.
It is important to note that Godfred Dame was recorded telling Richard Jakpa to obtain an excuse duty from court. He also suggested Jakpa lie against Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson regarding financial misconduct allegations.
Tamekloe urged Godfred Dame to confess his wrongdoings and seek forgiveness from a priest. He expressed concern over the conspiracy aimed at imprisoning Ato Forson unjustly.
He concluded by stating that regardless of political affiliation, everyone deserves fair representation under legal rules.
