The Ghana Gold Board has extended the deadline for gold dealers. The new deadline is May 21, 2025. This applies to those with old licenses from the PMMC or Ministry.
Sammy Gyamfi, acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, spoke at a press briefing on April 30. He mentioned that the original deadline was also April 30. Many license holders have not applied for new licenses yet.
Gyamfi noted that some applicants started but did not finish their applications. A few completed their submissions, but fairness is important. Therefore, they are allowing an additional three weeks to apply.
He stated that the new timeframe runs from April 30 to May 21, 2025. This extension should help serious applicants secure a Gold Board license.
The new Ghana Gold Board Act invalidates all previous gold trading licenses. Gyamfi urged Ghanaians who want to stay in business to apply now through the official portal.
He emphasized that applicants must visit goldbod.gov.gh for information. It’s crucial to read all requirements and terms before applying.
Applicants need to pay a fee and create an account online. They must fill out application forms accurately. Errors or omissions could lead to disqualification.
Gyamfi warned that mistakes would negatively impact application decisions. He concluded by stating this new deadline will not be extended again.
By May 21, only licensed individuals will be allowed in gold trading. Those with old PMMC or ministry licenses must apply before this date. Failing to do so may result in criminal charges for illegal trading after May 21.
