Godfred Yeboah Dame, the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, faces a complaint. A private citizen, Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah, filed this complaint with the General Legal Council. It concerns his conduct in the case Republic v. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson & Anor.
Ofosu-Appiah claims that Godfred Dame acted unprofessionally. He alleges that a leaked tape shows Dame trying to coerce Richard Jakpa, the third accused. This attempt was to influence Jakpa's testimony inappropriately.
The complaint states that this incident violates legal profession principles. It describes how a private audio recording was admitted as evidence in court. The recording reveals Dame attempting to interfere with judicial processes.
This behavior undermines prosecutorial impartiality and fair trial rights under Article 19(2) of the 1992 Constitution. Since the recording is now evidence, it requires urgent ethical scrutiny.
The complaint follows Godfred Dame's recent call for integrity among Ghanaians. He urged good men to stand up for righteousness on JOY FM. He emphasized his commitment to defending the judiciary since his appointment as Attorney-General.
Dame stated that misleading the public must not go uncorrected.
