Gov't directs MMDAs to submit Assembly Members’ details ahead of monthly allowance rollout

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has issued a directive.

All Regional Ministers and MMDCEs must urgently submit details of Assembly Members. This is part of efforts to start paying monthly allowances.

The directive is dated 30th April 2025. It follows the government’s commitment under its “Resetting Agenda.” It refers to Page 73, Section 395 of the 2025 Budget Statement. This section provides for monthly allowances for all Assembly Members.

In a wireless message from the Minister, officials were instructed to use a standard template. They must submit the information via email to the Decentralisation Unit. They should copy Mr. Samuel Passah at [email protected] by Friday, 9th May 2025.

“This forms part of efforts to initiate payment of monthly allowances,” the message stated.

Assemblies are urged to treat this matter with urgency. Timely submission is crucial to avoid delays in implementation.
