The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, announced a new task force. This task force aims to promote peaceful cohabitation between religious groups. It will focus especially on Muslims and Christians in the country.
During an interview on Joy News' AM show, he stressed the need for unity. Understanding among different religious communities is crucial for peace.
The minister explained that the task force will help address religious tensions. It will work to ensure harmony among diverse religious groups.
"The President has instructed us to create this task force," he said. "It will focus on both Christian and Muslim religions, our two largest faiths."
He added that the task force would serve as an interface between these groups. The goal is to encourage religious cohabitation and reduce political influence on these issues.
Ibrahim reaffirmed the government's commitment to preventing conflicts over religion or chieftaincy disputes. Such conflicts could harm communities and threaten national well-being.
