Gov’t Launches One Million Coders Programme To Power Digital Future

The Government of Ghana has launched the One Million Coders Programme. This initiative aims to teach one million citizens digital and coding skills. It seeks to transform Ghana into a tech-driven economy.

The programme was introduced at an event in Accra. It featured live satellite connections across various regions. Many participants included government agencies, tech leaders, educational institutions, and international partners.

Minister for Communications, Digital Innovation and Technologies, Sam Nartey George, gave the keynote address. He called the initiative a “defining moment” for Ghana’s digital evolution.

He stated that this moment is both necessary and urgent. It is a call to action for economic transformation and job creation. The Minister stressed the need to invest boldly in people.

He emphasized that science, innovation, and technology should drive inclusive growth. These concepts should not just be buzzwords but practical tools. The One Million Coders Programme aims to achieve this goal.
