Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has dismissed claims that the Mahama administration is behind recent assaults on journalists.
His response follows strong criticism from Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) President Kwabena Dwumfour, who described the attacks as “unprecedented” and blamed the government for inaction.
Speaking at a press briefing, Kwakye Ofosu called the allegations unfair and regrettable, insisting President Mahama would never endorse attacks on journalists.
He revealed that discussions with the GJA had been initiated, with a scheduled meeting next week to address concerns.
He further denied suggestions that the government was targeting journalists over unfavorable reports, stating that no such reprisals had taken place.
The government is urging a constructive dialogue to resolve these issues.
