The state has officially withdrawn treason felony charges against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, ending over two years of legal proceedings tied to his alleged coup remarks following the passage of the E-levy.
Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine confirmed the decision, marking a significant shift in high-profile prosecutions under the new administration.
This move aligns with a broader review of politically sensitive cases, including the discontinuation of trials involving Dr. Stephen Opuni, businessman Seidu Agongo, and former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama.
At a press conference, Dr. Ayine justified the withdrawals, emphasizing a reassessment of legal priorities.
Barker-Vormawor’s case is among several dropped as the government reviews its approach to controversial prosecutions.
