Labour Minister Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has acknowledged concerns raised by CLOGSAG regarding the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of Births and Deaths.
In a letter to CLOGSAG’s leadership, Dr. Pelpuo clarified that the issue was not about the President’s authority to appoint but rather concerns over political influence in public service roles.
He assured that stakeholder discussions are ongoing to resolve the matter amicably.
The minister urged CLOGSAG to reconsider its strike and allow members to return to work while the concerns are relayed to the President.
CLOGSAG had earlier petitioned against the appointment, insisting that the role should be free from political influence.
The dispute continues as the government seeks a compromise.
