Gov’t had court approval for Addison search – AG fires back at Afenyo-Markin

Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine defended the search at former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison's home. He dismissed claims that the operation was unlawful or politically motivated.

He questioned why a lawful search is being called a raid. "I applied for the warrant, and it was issued by the High Court," he stated. He emphasized that no one is above the law in this country.

Dr. Ayine criticized Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for his comments on the search. He warned against using parliamentary immunity to make unfounded allegations against law enforcement.

"The constitutional immunity granted to MPs does not allow defamation of officers conducting investigations," he said.

He revealed there is a recording of Dr. Addison’s response to the search. He challenged Afenyo-Markin to retract his claims or face public disclosure of the recording. "If he continues, I will make it public," Dr. Ayine warned.
