Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament. He is also a former Minister for Finance. He has accused the government of diverting funds meant for Agenda 111 hospital projects.
During the approval of the 2025 budget estimates, he raised concerns. He described the government's commitment to this initiative as lacking. Dr. Amin Adam argued that diverting funds could delay hospital completion significantly.
These hospitals are essential for improving healthcare access nationwide. “This government assured Ghanaians it would complete all ongoing projects,” he stated. However, he noted that funds for these critical projects are being redirected.
He questioned why the government is not honoring its financial commitments to healthcare infrastructure. Such actions undermine public trust and raise doubts about timely completion.
Dr. Amin Adam criticized the Finance Minister's suggestion to realign Agenda 111 funding under the Big Push Initiative. He pointed out that this initiative is already underfunded by $1.7 billion this year.
“Where exactly are these funds going?” he asked. “Why is there no clear explanation to Parliament and the public?” He urged the government to restore diverted funds immediately and ensure hospital completion for communities in need of better healthcare facilities.
