The Minority Caucus in Parliament has urged the government to help fire victims. They want part of the Contingency Fund used for this support.
Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markins, the Minority Leader, made this request. He spoke during a visit to the Adum Blue Light fire disaster site. The Caucus expressed sympathy for the affected traders.
Mr. Afenyo Markins highlighted the severe destruction caused by the fire. He emphasized that urgent government support is needed. The Contingency Fund is available for such emergencies.
He noted that while NPP leadership had visited, it was important for the Minority to show support too. They wanted to stand with traders during this difficult time.
The Minority Caucus announced a donation of GH¢200,000. This money will help rebuild the traders’ stores.
Mr. Afenyo Markins assured traders of their commitment to their interests. He promised to help them rebuild their businesses independently.
The members were joined by some national NPP executives and Ashanti regional officials during their visit.
