Negotiations have begun between the government and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) to resolve issues regarding their conditions of service.
The talks, led by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Ghana Education Service (GES), follow TEWU’s suspension of a nationwide strike on November 20.
TEWU leaders called for urgent action, citing members' frustrations over delays in revising service conditions for staff in public education institutions.
GES Director-General Dr. Eric Nkansah praised TEWU's patience, while FWSC’s Prof. Charles Adabo Oppong expressed hope for a peaceful resolution.
TEWU General Secretary King James Azortibah assured members of good-faith negotiations aimed at securing favorable outcomes for their welfare.
