The Government of Ghana has officially supported a new climate action initiative. This initiative is led by Queen Nihad Titiaka Oases Ibrahim. She is the Winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2024 and Founder of EcoGreen Oases Legacy. The project, titled “Empowering Communities for Climate Action,” launched on May 7, 2025, at the UPSA Auditorium. It received backing from key government ministries, agencies, and international partners.
The initiative focuses on sustainable waste management and afforestation. It also promotes clean cooking, youth empowerment, and climate justice. Officials described it as a timely intervention that aligns with the national development agenda.
Government Endorsement and Representation
Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo delivered the keynote address. He is the Minister for Labour, Jobs & Employment. He praised Queen Titiaka’s leadership and affirmed government support for climate advocates like her. The goal is to create green jobs and reduce environmental vulnerability.
“This project reflects our vision for sustainability and opportunity,” he stated. “We are proud to support this young woman who seeks national transformation.”
The launch included representatives from various sectors. Notable attendees were Hon. Yusif Sulemana, Prof. Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, His Royal Majesty Yiram Ajawuleh Okitikata I, Hon. Sammi Awuku, and many others from different ministries and organizations.
Empowering Communities for Climate Action
Queen Titiaka leads this project through her EcoGreen Oases Legacy platform. It consists of five transformative pillars:
1. Waste-to-Wealth upcycling training for youth and women.
2. Clean Cookstove Distribution to reduce firewood dependence.
3. Afforestation Campaigns aiming to plant 20,000 trees.
4. Construction of a Sustainable School Block in Wombong.
5. Support for Vulnerable Communities like witch camps and orphanages.
“This is not just about trees and stoves,” Queen Titiaka said in her speech. “It’s about dignity, jobs, climate justice, and making environmental protection everyone’s business.”
Impact and Call to Action
The initiative aims to benefit over 2,500 Ghanaians in its first year. It will especially help women, youth, and marginalized groups. The project also supports Ghana’s climate targets under the Paris Agreement.
With growing support nationally and internationally, Queen Titiaka called for action: “Let’s build a greener, more inclusive Ghana together.”
Hon. Dr. Rashid Pelpuo praised "Empowering Communities for Climate Action" as a timely solution to Ghana's environmental challenges.
