The Minister for Employment, Jobs, and Labour Relations, Rashid Pelpuo, has announced that the government is investigating the recruitment of about 12,000 individuals into the public sector by the former Akufo-Addo administration shortly after losing the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Channel One TV, Mr. Pelpuo revealed that a committee, co-chaired by him and established by President John Mahama, is probing complaints of unfair dismissals and examining the legitimacy of the mass appointments.
He said the recruitment, which occurred within just one to two weeks after the election loss, raises concerns about due process and political motivation.
The committee is assessing the timing and procedures behind the appointments and will soon release its findings.
Mr. Pelpuo assured the public of the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness in public sector employment and stated that future actions will be guided by the committee’s recommendations.
