Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament. He is also a former Minister for Finance. He has accused the government of diverting funds meant for Agenda 111 hospital projects.
During a budget approval session on March 26, he expressed his concerns. He described the government's commitment to this initiative as lacking.
Dr. Amin Adam argued that diverting funds could delay hospital completion. These hospitals are essential for improving healthcare access across the country.
He stated, “This government assured Ghanaians it would complete all ongoing projects.” However, he noted that funds for these critical projects are being redirected elsewhere.
He questioned why the government is not honoring its financial commitments. This comes despite repeated promises to prioritize healthcare infrastructure.
According to him, such actions undermine public trust in the government. They also raise doubts about completing hospitals on time.
He criticized the Finance Minister's suggestion to realign Agenda 111 funding under the Big Push Initiative. He pointed out that this initiative is underfunded by $1.7 billion this year.
“Where exactly are these funds being channeled?” he asked. “Why is there no clear explanation to Parliament and the public?”
He urged the government to restore diverted funds immediately. Completing these hospitals will benefit communities in urgent need of better healthcare facilities.
