Government to release feeding funds for 31 days to senior high schools – CHASS

Emergency funds will enable schools to procure food locally Emergency funds will enable schools to procure food locally

The General Secretary of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS), Primus Baro, has announced that the government will release emergency funds by Friday, January 17, to feed senior high school students for 31 days.

This intervention aims to address a nationwide food shortage affecting schools.

Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Baro revealed that the government has begun delivering food supplies directly to schools.

Additionally, President John Mahama redirected food meant for last year’s drought victims in the north to assist schools.

However, only two of the 18 required food items are currently available at Tema Port.

Emergency funds will enable schools to procure food locally while longer-term solutions are explored.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has pledged broader consultations with stakeholders to address recurring challenges.
