Govt assures continuity and job security at Damang Mine

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, visited the Abosso Gold Fields Damang Mines. His visit aimed to reassure management and workers about job stability. This follows the government's decision to take control of the mine. The move was due to Gold Fields not meeting lease renewal conditions.

During his visit, he was accompanied by senior officers from the Ministry and the Minerals Commission. He encouraged management to maintain normal operations during this transition phase. He assured that no worker would be dismissed because of these changes.

“We came to engage the workers of the Damang Mine,” he said. “President Mahama is committed to guaranteeing their jobs during this period.” He emphasized working together to ensure safety in operations.

He also mentioned that contractors and subcontractors should feel secure. Their commitments and contracts will remain unaffected by this transition. The ultimate goal is to empower local communities and ensure continuity in operations.
