The government has dissolved the National Cathedral Secretariat. This ends operations on the project started by former President Nana Akufo-Addo. The cathedral was meant to be a national Christian worship center and a symbol of Ghana’s religious heritage.
This decision marks a significant change in the government's stance. The initiative faced public criticism and allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption.
Initially, the project was seen as a monumental expression of faith and unity. However, it has come under increasing scrutiny regarding its execution and fund management.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, confirmed this new position. He stated that the state will no longer allocate resources to the abandoned National Cathedral project.
