The government has launched the One Million Coders Programme. This initiative aims to equip one million Ghanaians with coding and digital skills. The goal is to drive innovation, create jobs, and transform the economy.
The launch event took place in Accra on April 16, 2025. It was also held at satellite stations across the country. Key stakeholders from technology, government agencies, and development partners attended.
Minister Sam Nartey George spoke at the ceremony. He highlighted the importance of this initiative for Ghana’s digital future. “We are at a defining moment in Ghana's digital journey,” he said.
He emphasized that this moment is urgent and necessary. The programme aims to transform the economy and create sustainable jobs. It also seeks to invest boldly in the people of Ghana.
“We must harness Science, Innovation, and Technology as tools for growth,” he stated. The One Million Coders Programme is designed to achieve this goal.
