The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has received GH¢50 million from the government to assist in the administration of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Earlier in June, the government had allocated GH¢47 million to WAEC for the BECE.
At first, WAEC had only been given GH₵2.3 million out of GH₵95.83 million owed.
Consequently, the council asked for at least half the total amount to conduct the exams and additional funds to process and release the results.
