The government plans to expand the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy. This expansion will include private schools starting next academic year.
The announcement was made during the release of new guidelines for school selection. Candidates can now choose seven schools instead of six. The selection period runs from May 27 to June 6.
Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Appak, addressed the media on May 27. He explained that including private schools aims to increase capacity. It also seeks to phase out the double-track system gradually.
Dr. Appak stated, “We have been working diligently to include private senior high schools.” Meetings and engagements have taken place with these schools. He is confident they will participate effectively in the program.
He added, “This will help us end the double-track system.”
