Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama, has assured Ghanaians that steps are being taken to prevent food shortages under the Free SHS program.
This follows the government's release of GHS200 million to address recent shortfalls.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom, Ofosu blamed the previous administration’s poor planning for disruptions in food supply, which forced schools to reopen without adequate provisions.
Despite calls from school heads to delay reopening, their request was ignored, worsening the crisis.
Upon assuming office, President Mahama swiftly intervened, ensuring food distribution and funding for school feeding.
Ofosu reiterated that going forward, the government will implement stronger measures to guarantee consistent food supply for students.
