The government has announced a reduction in the cost of an ordinary passport from GH¢500 to GH¢350, marking a more than 25% decrease.

The move, aimed at making passports more affordable while maintaining security standards, was disclosed by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Parliament on March 13, 2025.

He assured that the necessary amendments to fees and charges would be presented for approval soon.

Additionally, the Ministry plans to introduce a door-to-door passport delivery service as part of its new 24-hour service initiative.

This follows a fee increase in April 2024, which was aligned with the 2023 Fees and Charges Regulations (L.I. 2481).
