Ghana plans to limit the importation of excavators. This announcement comes from Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources.
Discussions are ongoing to establish how these restrictions will work.
Buah noted that Ghana imports about $6.2 billion worth of excavators each year. Most of these machines are used for illegal mining activities.
At a news conference in Accra, Buah updated the public on efforts against illegal mining. He emphasized that this move is part of broader measures to tackle the issue.
