Govt won’t interfere with academic freedom  …Haruna Iddrisu reassures

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed the government's commitment to academic freedom.

He stated that the government under President John Dramani Mahama will not interfere with this freedom.

Iddrisu emphasized that this applies especially to public tertiary institutions.

He assured the council and academic community of this commitment.

"We will not micromanage the universities," he said during his speech.

Iddrisu made these remarks while inaugurating the 19-member governing council for Dr Hilla Limann Technical University in Accra last Thursday.
